(Pray and then step across the line)

WARM-UP/FIRST GAME: 10 MINUTES

® “Pay attention to your thoughts as you play this game” >>10 minute game

GROUP TALK 1: ?? MINUTES

  • What are the idols that are creeping into your thoughts? What do others think about me? How stupid do I look playing volleyball? How awesome do I look playing? How can I show everyone that I'm confident even though I'm a little scared? How important is it for me to win right now? Is there someone watching from my team, another team or crowd whose attention means the world to me right now? Does the lack of a paid audience cause me to not care as much right now?

  • Audience of One-what could it look like to worship God through your sport? Just be a good person? Smile a lot? Don't cuss? Be glad even when I'm not in? Be a cheerleader for my team?

Ask them....

EVALUATION GAMES: 20 MINUTES

  • Attitude, actions & effort (Phil 2-imitate attitude of Christ, Col 3:23-act/eff all your heart)
  • Sing a Worship Song- who are you singing to with your sport? Sing to the Lord, thru your sport, with your heart. ---DON'T DO THIS

® 2-3 games for 20 minutes

FINAL GAME: 8 MINUTES

  • Slave vs. Free (chain analogy of lies vs. freedom in Christ's truth)--- there was some concern at 1 camp over discussing chains and slavery – we can discuss if this is okay or not
  • Col 2:7…overflow with thankfulness…as God's voice of truth grows louder in my life, an attitude of thankfulness erupts from our hearts.
  • How do your coaches motivate you? Fear, anger, hate, revenge, pride.
  • New motivation…Thank You Response-If it's not positive then pick one of the God's view of you truths and praise Him for it with your attitude, actions, integrity, intensity.

Not performing for God but responding to what He has done for you.

® 2 games for 10-12 minutes (break in and ask what their new motivations are)

  • It's okay to want to win! “Run to win”, Go for the Big W-Worship, not just small w-win)

Did your motivation go up? Home Team? Away Team? Thank You Response? Non-All stars?

Externals do affect us, but new goal=be more affected by God's opinion than others opinion.
