Day 1 Theme: Personal & Social Responsibility

  • Personal Responsibility: Demonstrating effort in new activities when working towards individual goals
    • Luke 2:46-52 - “[Jesus' parents] found him … sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking questions … and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature”
      • Real men take their education seriously and are focused on the future, preparing for adulthood
    • Social Responsibility: Demonstrating respect for others and a willingness to help those in need
      • Luke 22:32 – “[Jesus] prayed for you that your faith may not fail”
        • Real men look out for the welfare of their brothers in Christ
      • Luke 2:51 – “[Jesus] returned to Nazareth with [his parents] and was obedient to them”
        • Real men treat women, especially their mothers and wives, with dignity, honor, and respect

  • Leadership: Positively influencing others toward achieving shared goals
    • Philippians 2:6 – “Though [Jesus] was in the form of God, he did not think equality with God something to be grasped”
      • Real men are humble and take on a cause that is greater than themselves
    • Followership: Supporting the group towards achieving shared goals
      • John 13:14 – “Now that I, [Jesus], have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet”
        • Real men are great servants, helping others reach their potential

  • Confidence: Believing in yourself and willing to ask for help when faced with conflict and challenge
    • Hebrews 12:2 – “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus … who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame”
      • Real men focus on the long-term reward, not short-term pain, expressing their need for help when their strength weakens
    • Resilience: Controlling your emotions while working hard to achieve set goals
      • Hebrews 4:15 – “[Jesus] was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin”
        • Real men stand by a moral code and practice self-control over their body, their thoughts, and their words
