A key part of the White House's ongoing commitment to improve access to employment opportunities for transitioning Service Members and Veterans, it facilitates access to hundreds of thousands of private-sector job openings specifically targeted at Veterans.

I remember when the yellow "Support Our Troops" stickers and magnets were so popuplar that it seemed like they were on every other vehicle on the road. It was great to see people rally behind the troops. Now, after more than 10 years of war, we still need to support our troops - at home, as well as abroad.
What a lot of people don't realize is that the impact of deployments lasts a long time. Having to carry on with life while separated from your loved one is difficult enough. Unfortunately, many military families are destroyed during the "reintegration" of the military member back into the family.
I found the follwoing transcript from CBS about Project Sanctuary. It is "a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide therapeutic, curative, supportive and recreational activities to veterans, active military personnel, their spouses and children in a leisure environment."

More U.S. Soldiers Killed Themselves Than Died in Combat in 2010
Cord Jefferson, Senior Editor at Good presents some troubling numbers about the suicide rate for US Soldiers.
For the second year in a row, more American soldiers - both enlisted men and women and veterans - committed suicide than were killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Excluding accidents and illness, 462 soldiers died in combat, while 468 committed suicide. A difference of six isn't vast by any means, but the symbolism is significant and troubling. In 2009, there were 381 suicides by military personnel, a number that also exceeded the number of combat deaths.
Missing In America Project - Veteran Recovery Program
The continued reporting about the disgraceful mishandling of remains at Arlington National Cemetery prompted me to look around for more information.
The purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.
Act of Valor - Go See It!
Went to see Act of Valor at the theater last night with some guys from church. Of all the movies I have seen this year, this is one of the most memorable. Go see it. It is worth it.
