Went to see Act of Valor at the theater last night with some guys from church. Of all the movies I have seen this year, this is one of the most memorable. Go see it. It is worth it.
I always check reviews before heading to the movie theater. I've put many movies in the "wait for TV" category after reading reviews and plots. But for this movie, I was going to see it regardless of the reviews. Most movie critic reviews were negative while viewers seemed to like it.
One of the things I really liked about Act of Valor was that there were no injected sex scenes. I hate it when I'm watching an intense action flick and BAM! - a sex scene. (Columbiana went from action packed to WACK doing this.) No worries in Act of Valor, though.
Another thing I enjoyed was watching how the SEALS operate as a part of a much larger group. The air, land and sea support the SEALS have is phenomenal and we get a peek at that in Act of Valor.
The movie also hits you with the family. The realities and pain of separation come through.
When the movie was over, I wanted to see more. Act of Valor shows the SEALS in action and it wasn't over-done.
My favorite scenes were 1) riverboat support, 2) submarine, 3) sniper and 4) HALO jumps.
I'll go see this one again.
