Let me ask you a question.

How many of you became great at your sport overnight?

Nobody.

Nobody picked up a basketball one day and became a champion the next.

Nobody walked into the weight room one time and got stronger.

Nobody practiced once and mastered their sport.

Why?

Because growth is a process.

JAM SESSION 5 - THE PROCESS

The Manhood Theme: Responsible Leadership

Key Verse

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

Philippians 1:6

Everybody Loves Results

Nobody loves the process.

People love championships.

People love trophies.

People love highlights.

People love success.

What they don't see are the early mornings.

The hard practices.

The failures.

The mistakes.

The days when nothing seems to be working.

That's the process.

Trust The Process

Years ago, the Philadelphia 76ers became known for a phrase:

"Trust The Process."

The team struggled.

They lost games.

People doubted them.

But they believed something.

Growth takes time.

The same is true in sports.

The same is true in life.

The same is true in your walk with Jesus.

Stay In The Groove

As a musician, I've learned something.

The groove doesn't happen by accident.

You keep listening.

You keep practicing.

You keep showing up.

Eventually everything starts coming together.

Life is the same way.

Your walk with Jesus is the same way.

Some days you'll feel close to God.

Some days you won't.

Some days you'll win.

Some days you'll struggle.

Stay in the groove.

Keep showing up.

Keep following.

Keep growing.

God Is Still Working

One of my favorite promises in the Bible says:

"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion."

Philippians 1:6

Think about that.

God started the work.

God is continuing the work.

God will finish the work.

You are not a finished product yet.

Neither am I.

We are all growing.

We are all learning.

We are all becoming.

Coach T Reminder

Don't quit because you're not there yet.

Nobody starts at the finish line.

Two Things You Need

Stay In The Word

The Bible helps you grow.

Just like food helps your body grow.

If you want to get stronger spiritually, spend time in God's Word.

Stay Connected

Jesus said:

"I am the vine; you are the branches."

A branch cannot survive disconnected from the vine.

Neither can we.

Stay connected to Jesus.

Pray.

Read.

Learn.

Stay close.

Responsible Leadership

Throughout JAM Camp we've talked about responsibility.

A responsible leader does not quit when things get hard.

A responsible leader keeps growing.

A responsible leader keeps learning.

A responsible leader keeps showing up.

Even when nobody is watching.

Think About It

Where are you growing right now?

What area of your life needs more patience?

What area of your life needs more effort?

Focus

What process am I tempted to quit?

Action

Choose one small habit that helps you grow.

Do it every day for the next week.

Reflection

Am I focused on quick results or steady growth?

Coach T Challenge

Don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle.

Keep learning.

Keep growing.

Keep showing up.

Stay in the groove.

Trust the process.

Coach T Closing Thought

A boy wants everything now.

A man understands that growth takes time.

Trust God.

Trust the process.

Keep moving forward.

The Creator is not finished with you yet.
