1. Start with the Source
You were created on purpose and for a purpose by God Himself.
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you...” – Jeremiah 1:5
That means your identity isn't something you make up—it's something you wake up to. You were never meant to define yourself by the world's standards. You were designed to be defined by God's truth.
Who better to tell you who you are than the One who made you?
2. Know What God Says About You
Let's get real: if you don't know what God says about you, you'll believe what anyone else says—especially lies.
Here's what God says:
-
You are loved – Romans 5:8
-
You are chosen – 1 Peter 2:9
-
You are forgiven – 1 John 1:9
-
You are not alone – Deuteronomy 31:6
-
You are a new creation – 2 Corinthians 5:17
When you believe these truths and begin to live from them, you step into your true identity—not just who you are, but whose you are.
3. Let Go of the Fake Labels
The world will try to put labels on you:
"You're not enough."
"You're too broken."
"You're just like your dad."
"You're a failure."
"You're weak."
But those labels don't come from God.
God doesn't call you by your failures—He calls you by your future.
You are not your past. You are not your mistakes. You are not your trauma.
You are who God says you are.
Let go of every label that doesn't line up with God's Word.
4. Spend Time With Christ to Learn Who You Are
Relationships grow through time and presence. Your relationship with Christ works the same way.
-
Study your Bible—not to check a box, but to hear your Father speak.
-
Pray—not to sound deep, but to be real with the One who made you.
-
Worship—not just with songs, but with your life.
When you spend time with Jesus, He reshapes your thoughts, resets your purpose, and reaffirms your worth.
5. Walk Out Your Identity Daily
You discover your identity in Christ—then you live it.
That means:
Speaking truth over yourself
Choosing obedience over impulse
Showing love when it's hard
Walking in confidence—not arrogance, but godly strength
Manhood isn't about pretending to have it all together. It's about standing strong in who God says you are, even when life tries to shake you.
Final Word from Coach T
Young man, you don't have to wander through life confused and insecure.
You don't have to copy someone else's version of manhood.
You don't have to wear the mask that culture gives you.
Your identity is not in what you do—it's in who you belong to.
And when you belong to Christ, you are:
-
Forgiven
-
Redeemed
-
Empowered
-
Called
-
Loved beyond measure
So walk like it.
Lead like it.
Live like it.
You are a Child of God.
That's WHO YOU ARE.
