Veterans Resource: AMVETS

As one of America’s fore­most vet­er­ans ser­vice orga­ni­za­tions, AMVETS (or Amer­i­can Vet­er­ans) has a proud his­tory of assist­ing vet­er­ans and spon­sor­ing numer­ous pro­grams that serve our coun­try and its cit­i­zens. The help­ing hand that AMVETS extends to vet­er­ans and their fam­i­lies takes many forms.

One of the most vis­i­ble is our net­work of trained national ser­vice offi­cers (NSOs) accred­ited by the Depart­ment of Vet­er­ans Affairs. Funded by the AMVETS National Ser­vice Foun­da­tion, these ded­i­cated men and women can be found in close to 40 states, pro­vid­ing sound advice and prompt action on com­pen­sa­tion claims at no charge to the veteran.

As a Web Developer, I'm usually sitting in front of the computer for many hours at a time during the day. My eyes get tired after awhile, especially when I'm looking at lines and lines of code on a screen with a white background.

Dreamweaver CS4 is my go-to code editor because it has so many great features. It even allows customization of the code viewing environment, which I had played around with in the padt.

I was really happy when I found this great post on how to setup a dark code view theme in Dreamweaver.

5 Minute Fix Internal hard disk drive not found

My old Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop computer was sitting around collecting dust for years until I decided to repurpose it as a training laptop earlier this week.

I did a factory restore and everything was working fine until I rebooted the system and got the message:

Internal hard disk drive not found

I did a Google search and saw several  possible solutions stating that I should try to "reseat the drive". I thought this would be a major issue to fix that would require someone els, but I was able to fix the problem in less than 5 minutes

I love fixing computers! Keep in mind that I am a V.I.P. - Vision Impaired Person, with almost no central vision.

SAHD Life: Doing My Daughter's Hair for School

As a male military spouse and Stay-At-Home-Dad, learning to properly care for my ladies' hair has been a challenging and rewarding experience.

Doing my hair is simple. I've been cutting my own hair since my Academy days. I don't waste time worrying about my hair style anymore, I just shave it all off. I cut as low as my shears will allow me to and then I use my Norelco face shaver to shave the sides and back of my head. My haircuts are free and done in 15 minutes, but I could not imagine being able to perfect doing my daughter's hair in the same amount of time.

The big question for me used to be, "How do I do this?" How do I quickly do my daughter's hair in a way that looks nice and still allows me to get her to school on time?
