"Attend to the needs of others."

That is the phrase that started coming to mind while I was in prayer. No booming voce. No audible sound. Just a thought conveyed in a phrase.

At the time, I was deeply concerned about the loss of my eyesight. Fear, doubt, anxiety were all present. Depression was nearby, too. I envisioned each of them personified, entering my circle, all around, at once.

In prayer, I hide in the shadow of the cross of Christ. It's quiet there. I hear my heart beat there, along with my breaths. I hear my thought there, too. They are ofte the loudest of all.

"Attend to the needs of others."

This one thought silenced all the others. It didn't really fit my train of thought at the time.Whlie my thoughtswere directed towards a future me that I could not see, this one thought was directed towards others, now.

-----

I was never one who cared much for titles. I still have a bit of a reaction to being called Minister James, but until now, I kept all that to myself.

I find it interesting that even before I started following Christ, people called me "Minister", expecially in the Nation of Islam, well before I knew what it meant. Brother Eric, in Colorado Springs, was good for this.

-----

"Attend to the needs of others."

This one thought was an interruption of my thoughts. More like an overruling of my thoughts. Whenever I would start my train of thoughtsagain cincerned with my situation and circumstances, this one thought returned with the same result.

-----

Minister

The verb is stronger than the noun.

How to Make Beats Laying Down Basic Music Ideas

I like to make Moody Instrumental Music on Saturday mornings. Sometimes, I start out the morning with playing around on the keyboard until I play a chord or melody that catches me and inspires me to develop more of a song. I call this my exploration and discovery process for making music.

Since I don't start with any musical pieces in my head (the way I normally do), I just make time to "explore" and "discover" music using this method. Rather than try to develop entire song ideas using this method, I just try to get the basic parts - the "foundation" - of a song captured in Propellerhead Reason. This way, I can always come back to the track later and develop it.

In this video, watch how I start out with two very basic 4-note piano chords and build a basic song idea. The bass and drums are added to the piano to create a "chill" song idea - something to lounge to on a nice Saturday morning.

The end of the video catches some of my improvisation on the basic idea. Usually, when I improv or "freestyle" on the track (with the piano) I can develop a real feel for the song idea, making it easier to build a complete song later.

Why I Make Moody Instrumental Music - Testimony by TaurusBeats aka Taurus M. James

In 1997, I was following the teachings of Elijah Muhammad and Minister Louis Farrakhan, striving to be the best I could be in the Nation of Islam. One night, I prayed to God to, "Tell me what I am missing".

I was broke, bitter, angry and depressed. I wanted Him to tell me why my life was so messed up. I knew there was more to life - more to my life, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't make my life better.

The next morning, I awoke saying, "Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus Christ is the Son of God!" I was sitting straight up in my bed by the third time I spoke these words.

"Cold Suns" is the latest part of my musical story. This song expresses my deepest feelings about meeting great people and then having to be separated from them.
